Recap of the Week:

This past week we talked about the letter Q. We came up with a list of words beginning with Q. Thank you for sending in the pictures and words beginning with Q for our chart. The children colored a quilt and glued it to the cover of their letter book. They completed two pages in the book and brought the rest home.
In our Weekly Reader we read about how artic animals camouflage themselves in the snow.
In Religion we read: "Only One Cookie". We talked about the importance of sharing and things we can share at home.
In our unit: "Our Community" we read: "Knuffle Bunny". We talked about how we'd feel and what we'd do if we lost a favorite stuffed animal. Our story words were: fussy, errand, laundromat and bawl. In Math we used our community floor map to review position words. The children used toy cars to show different routes to locations on the map.
We finished our Eskimos for the hallway bulletin board. We also drew penguins. We colored them in and painted the background with watercolors.

This Coming Week:

This week we'll focus on the letter G. We'll glue a gumball machine to the cover of our letter book and complete four pages to improve letter recognition. The rest will be sent home for homework. Please send in words or pictures that begin with G for the back of our chart.
We'll practice writing G in our HWT workbooks.
In Religion we'll read the story: "The Boy Jesus in the Temple". We'll talk about the Holy Family and things they may have done together.
In our unit: "Our Community" we'll read "A Good Night's Walk". We'll talk about noises we may hear in our neighborhood at night. Our story words are: chattering, calm, hum and settle. In Math/ Science we'll talk about ramps and how they help people. We'll build ramps with a variety of materials such as pool noodles, wrapping paper tubes and blocks.
